EMDR Therapy
Heal from the Past. Move Forward with Confidence.
Sometimes difficult experiences continue to affect us long after they've happened. You may find yourself feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, or reacting in ways that don't make sense, even when you know you're safe. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a powerful, evidence-based therapy that helps your brain naturally process and heal from those distressing experiences.
EMDR has been shown to be effective in treating trauma, PTSD, anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, grief, low self-esteem, and distressing life experiences. Whether you're healing from a single traumatic event or years of difficult experiences, EMDR can help you move beyond surviving and begin thriving.
EMDR May Help If You Are Experiencing:
Trauma or PTSD
Anxiety or panic attacks
Driving anxiety following an accident
Childhood trauma
Grief and loss
Negative self-beliefs
Stressful or overwhelming life experiences
Phobias or fears
Depression related to past experiences
Child and Teen Therapy
Navigating life can be challenging for anyone at any age. Throw in a global pandemic, constant social media influence, peer pressure, decision-making, and family conflict, and things can get very overwhelming.
We pride ourselves on connecting with youth and offering a safe, comfortable space for our young clients to share their thoughts and express their feelings freely. To better connect with our younger clients, we utilize play therapy techniques such as games, toys, sand-tray, art, and more.
We are currently accepting clients ages 7 and up.
Family Therapy/Parent Support
Parenting can feel like a never-ending uphill battle. Always questioning your decisions and feeling like the “bad guy” can leave you feeling isolated and emotionally drained. Since there is no manual for being a parent (if there is, please send it my way), Young at Heart Counseling offers support for parents as well as family therapy for those who might be struggling with difficulties at home.
The family system affects everyone in the household and we find that clients see the best results from therapy when the family does the work together.
